Be as heart smart and healthy as our Canadian athletes

January 26th, 2010

February is almost here in Vancouver and so are the Olympics. Since February is also heart month Momentum Fitness is offering all clients access to their cardio equipment free for the entire month with a small donation made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of BC and Yukon.

Vancouver, BC Momentum Fitness’ annual “Cardio Challenge”, an event held to raise awareness and support heart month, gets an Olympic twist this year. The Canadian Olympic team will be fit and heart healthy this February and we are challenging our clients to be the same.

February is Heart Month and every year, tens of thousands of people across Canada put their hearts into making a difference to the lives of others by participating in the Heart and Stroke Foundation’s largest grassroots fundraising initiative – Heart Month.

This year during the “Cardio Challenge” clients will be able to be part of a team, led by their trainer, or be a solo competitor in their quest to meet and exceed their cardio goal. Clients are asked to choose a goal, usually a total amount of minutes or miles, they will commit to reaching by the end of February. They will be able to track their progress made at Momentum Fitness and on their own and will push themselves to a heart healthy lifestyle.

Momentum Fitness, a training facility that specializes in personal training and small group classes, has clients ranging from golfers who want to lower their score to the busy executive struggling to find enough time to stay fit. Momentum’s mission is to apply our extensive knowledge and experience towards helping members achieve a higher level of fitness and quality of life. We have created an environment that is friendly, professional, fun and safe.

Since it’s inception in 2000, Momentum Fitness owners Barry Duncan and Nikki Layton have raised and donated over $40,000 to a variety of charities. Successful events like the “Cardio Challenge” enable them to stress the importance of a healthy lifestyle and give back to the global community.
